6063 photos to go, and where do you go to when you go there

or in this case, how do you go!
Not at all obvious how to select all photos in the camera roll (iphone 4) and delete - having backed them up several times over in as many places as I can, first!

This is slow but seems to be working, and is nothing like as frustrating as waiting for iphoto to take 5 minutes to notice the phone, or selecting each of 6063 photos one at a time!

Image capture (with OSX): connect phone, select ALL photos, delete selected. Wait.. seems to delete each one at a time, but at least without my involvement! There is something to be said for PDA file systems after all!
