Collaborative Researcher Residential

The Collaborative Researcher 2012:

30 January 2012 - 01 February 2012

Collaboration is more than the icing on the research cake; it now lies at the heart of the research model for the 21st Century. Individual researchers wishing to build successful careers need to connect with, and impress, a broad network of professional colleagues. Projects no longer solely operate under the traditional model of a single researcher or group and draw upon a range of partners from the subjects, institutions and sectors required to answer bigger and more far-reaching questions.

This 2 day residential course will look at the building blocks of the collaborative style of research: inclusive communication, cultural awareness, robust planning, negotiation and the ability to work effectively with others. Whether your collaboration is with another academic in your department, or partners from different subjects, sectors and countries, it will help you to develop winning strategies for connecting and working with others.

With VITAE at Nottingham. Unfortunatley hampered by the worst back pain I've ever had (and don't usually suffer from...) so I wasn't even able to make the most of the pool n the evening, and didn't feel very much fun :(
However, really interesting and lovely group of people to work with, and some great proposals for collaborative research, including a worked up version of my Soundlines/Living Voices proposal that I outlined at the end of my paper for Wellbeing last summer.
Pleased to meet someone else from the SW, and hear about interesting research in psychology and using the arts with communities within the frame of wellbeing (and wonder). Will keep in touch... but maybe not by updating my linked in and twitter as they recommended!
