Having recorded the audio just over a year ago, it was great to watch people listening to it for the first time, sharing their reflections, thoughts on their own lives, the wisdom that comes through the narratives, and what kind of tree each person may choose to be.
I've been editing the audio for this over the past few weeks - previous plans had been for the woodland walk version, so the audio here needed to be more succinct. Nine people speak in eight tracks that range from 3 to 6 minutes in length.
As well as an installation in the community studio, we demonstrated the audio on smartphones using QR codes out in the trees in front of the playhouse to give a feel of the difference listening walking in the open air, boughs overhead, trunks close.
I've put the audio up as a trail using empedia, and embedded it on my website - so that it's available for those people who were unable to attend on Saturday to listen to, and to point towards as I draw up a proposal over the coming months (after thesis writing!) to take the project forwards - as a walk and installation and potentially a transdisciplinary research project with online hub. The installation was received beautifully by our visitors of approximately 10 to 90 years of age.
