I dropped in to see if the Node Explorers are still in use at Stourhead - sadly not, after one season they were due to be updated because of problems with gps. However, I heard about something else... Launched a couple of weeks ago, this iPhone app, part of the National Trust's Gardens app, contains information and images of about 73 trees and plants. Some of those are duplications of information, as there are for example 2 Tulip trees marked and listed in different locations.
However, use of gps in this valley, especially with tree canopies in dense foliage, is such a non- starter that one wonders why it was used at all!
