Max/MSP Convention and Interact Live Event

The convention
was an interesting mix of presentations etc. and met Luke Woodbury from Somerset who works at the same special school as my Strata colleague Jane. Luke had an installation in the Cube at Phoenix of work that he has made for the students to interact with in their specially built egg-shaped interactive media studio - sounds intriguing. I hope to follow up with a visit and interview Luke as I'm due at the school to talk to the storytelling/gathering project about my colour grid app shortly.
Interact Gallery:
A new piece of my work, showing a selection of colour grids from three different projects, and playing in relation to the viewer's movements, will be shown in the exhibition at Interact to coincide with the convention. Thanks to Sean for doing the Max/MSP programming for me.

My interactive display of Colour Grid animations, featuring lithophone and hydrophone sounds from the Yorkshire Dales is installed in the Interact Gallery, Leicester. The show opened with an evening of interactive art, music and visuals, by local artists using MaxMSP in their work. Concurrently Phoenix Digital Art Centre is hosting the first UK conference for Max users, Max_4u. The Interact show runs for the next 3 weeks at Fabrika Independent Arts Centre.

"Leicester is hosting a Max/MSP Users' Convention on the 13th and 14th January at Phoenix Square. Amongst the presenters at the event will be Max/MSP co-creator David Zicarelli. There will also be workshops and various presenters from Max.MSP users and experts. I think it will be a really interesting event for newbies and pros alike. Details of how to book can be found at http://maxuk.wordpress.com/. I think they'll be lots of information about the recent update to Max/MSP which introducing some pretty powerful new features.
In parallel with the event I am curating a live event and exhibition at The Interact Gallery (5 mins walk from Phoenix Square) on the Friday (13th) night. There will be music, visuals and a new exhibition of interactive artwork - much of it produced by Leicester artists. This event will run from 7:30pm to 11pm.
