"Today, the Writing Group for Research Students held a seminar event to discuss some of the themes that concern doctoral researchers. These themes were informed by the Postgraduate Researcher Symposium held at the British Library last month and included:
· Building communities for researchers (online, physical, informal, professional)
· Space (working spaces/learning spaces (What do they look like? What should they look like?)
· Public engagement – what does it mean to have a PhD?
· Communication between all participants in the doctoral process (What does this process look like? What are the expectations of all parties involved and how can we manage these?)
Some of you who couldn’t attend today expressed an interest in hearing feedback from our discussion; please find this attached." [email from writing group organiser Dr Melanie Petch]
