A quick visit to Leicester's GreenLight Festival yesterday at DMU harvested a lovely recycled cloth bag and some leaflets about the National Forest an Leicester Parks. The dogs are delighted that we have new places to explore - particularly watery ones with sticks to chase and many dogs to socialise with.
Watermeads Park, to the North of the city, boasts a lifesize mammoth scuplture in recognition of the archaeological remains found when digging out the gravel pits. But much more engaging was the huge colony of waterbirds. Three swans flying overhead created the most amazing sound as close to a natural bull-roarer as I could imagine. Perhaps they know a thing or two about pre-history, too.
Catkins too!
