Developing Inhibitors ...

Brilliant session with the Developing Group today.

Developing inhibitions might sound rather like a strange thing to do at first, but reading James Lawley & Penny Tompkins notes for the session got me excited about inhibitors - and hence inhibition - in anticipation ...

I expect the notes will appear on their website at some time, so I wont repeat too much here, suffice to say the mix of neuroscience, psychology, biology and modelling is fascinating and illuminating about the way in which inhibition and excitation (of neurons in the brain) interrelate and play vital roles in focus, creativity, and really everything we think dream and do. The pairing reminds me a lot of the dynamics of 'forces' that we worked with in the Self DDD module last year. And having the tension of two 'opponent processors' (Sherrington) 'whose contrary influence make possible finely calibrated responses to complex situations' worked wonders in facilitation - as facilitator and as client with space.

Another illuminating, adventurous and exciting day.
