Time sings through the grid

Aha! At last, what I've been waiting for... a touch of Sean's magic and a few hours tweeking the MaxMSP patch to allow the Hunter Gatherer grids to playback animated squares and sounds in relation to the timing of the person when making them. Until now it was just an equal-interval sequenced playback, which, though a great start, did not have the personal idiosyncrasy that I wanted and that is available with the data recorded during the making of a grid using the iphone app.

Here's a couple of little examples. Although it seems blogger only uploads part of the soundtrack!...

There will be hundreds more as I work through the Gatherer gallery getting the code from each grid to turn it into an animation. The next step is to set up the various audio libraries appropriate to the different context of  batches of grids.

The sounds to date are specific to the Yorkshire Dale and are the voice of the magical creature coming alive - hydrophone recordings I made at some of the cache sites and the sound of lithophones (ringing rocks from Ingleton quarry, thanks to Leeds University's Ruskin Rocks and Quarry Arts projects, and to Bobbie Millar for providing me with the recordings).
