SatSymph

Have heard Ralph talking about this (and other ideas that came out of his TSB-funded research into 'the dramatic potential of locative media') for a while, but didn't realise it also included a Soundlines-like upload and replay element. (Though looking online, maybe that's still to come...)

As Ralph says, 'it's composed with music, words, and it's composed with landscape'.

So really it mirrors Soundlines (already under proposal at the Studio a few months prior to the start of SatSymph) but does so with professionally produced (instrumental and poetic) symphonic content rather than participatory interpretive (percussive an animated) content. The platform is different  - iphone rather than PDA. Similarities include the log and replay concept and the idea of sharing a performance of resultant user-creations at a different public location (exploratory multi-media community event at school for Soundlines, specified public performance for SatSymph).

Great news that it won the PRS audience vote for New Music Award 2010. Hope they find another way to fund and develop it further, so I can get to play!
